The students in my class range from 5 years old to 7 years old. They are like sponges eager to learn and get ready for the world. Because of their home experiences and schooling, they are able to learn from each other. With 24 students in the classroom, there is never a dull moment.
Each student is capable of numerous accomplishments.
I am always amazed by their interests and talents. They love to share what they know; big talkers and great artists. We are a family away from home; and we quickly learn how to grow together.
My Project
The bilingual students in my class love math! They are learning to read and write in Spanish, but Math is learned in English. They feel confident in their math skills and they learn from one another. However, in the classroom, it is hard to compete with their world of technology when they go home and turn on a smartphone one or tablet.
Math is everywhere and we use it everyday.
In our classroom we need different materials to keep us engaged and motivated. Our current materials are getting very used up and the students have lost interest in using them. These new math materials will be a breath of fresh air for our classroom, especially this Spring season.
These math materials provide the hands-on experiences needed to learn math during learning centers. They are able to work together to manipulate and learn different math skills. When my students use these materials, they will take ownership in their learning. The variety in the math materials I've selected provide a learning experience for all the multi-learning types in our classroom.
